Computing

Southdale’s computing curriculum prepares our children for the digital world they currently live, and will go onto, and work in. Together, we understand that technology is everywhere, and it has very recently, and will continue to, play a pivotal part in our children’ lives. We want our children to be creators not consumers. Thus, our broad curriculum encompasses computer science, information technology and digital literacy. We equip our children with the skills needed to navigate the digital world safely, positively and responsibly. We want our children to understand that there is always a choice with using technology, and through progressively planned sequences, they build a skillset and awareness of how to use technology to enhance and create engaging digital content. Our IT lessons ensure computing is embedded across the whole curriculum. These lessons ensure key geographic and historical knowledge, which drive our narratives, is continually revisited, consolidated and presented in a variety of different ways.
