What is Code Club?
Code Club aims to give children the skills, confidence and opportunity to learn the basic principles of computer coding in a fun, engaging and creative way. They learn by ‘doing’ and build perseverance through experimenting and ‘de-bugging’.
Children work collaboratively on ‘Scratch’ coding projects, assembling ‘blocks’ of code to create animations and games. Each project teaches a different programming concept and builds on the skills learned in previous projects. Children can work at their own speed through the modules, which become progressively more challenging.
Each term a new group of children from Year 4 to Y6 works on the projects in a one hour weekly session. Some Y6 children stay on to support others by passing on their ‘expertise’ and further building on their own skills.
